The recipes are a mix of originals created by me, new twists on a few of my family’s favorites, and ones my mom introduced to me. I’ve included recipes for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans, as well as ones that are gluten-free; and there are notes about how to convert some recipes to make them suitable for those with certain food sensitivities and preferences.
The recipes also range from super-easy, to ones with a few more extra steps and ingredients.
To make the journey through the cookbook logical and user-friendly, I’ve organized it into chapters for each meal of the day: Get Up & Go (Breakfast); Feed the Beast (Lunch); Pick-Me-Ups (Snack); Let’s Feast (Dinner); Life is Sweet (Dessert); and Cool Breezes & a Santa Ana Wind (Beverages).
Are you a visual person, like me? Then you’re going to love all the great photographs and colorful cartoon illustrations. Do you like learning interesting things about the world? Then you’ll get a kick out of all the cool, fun facts. And along the way, you’ll also learn a little more about me.
These are all awesome things, but what’s even more exciting about this cookbook is that it’s given me the opportunity to give back in a big way through my Chase Yur Dreams Foundation.
CYDF is my way of helping families prepare and support those individuals with autism who, like me, want to live independently. A portion of all my cookbook sales go directly to CYDF, providing grants to support families and organizations that are helping individuals on their roads to independence. The truth is, with or without autism, we’re all doing life with a little bit of help, every day of our lives.
And when you buy my cookbook and / or make a donation to CYDF, you and I are working together to give families and individuals hope, improve lives, and help make people’s dreams come true. Another very important way you can be supportive, is to simply ask your local bookstores to bring the cookbook into the stores for people to purchase. That gesture will go a long way in bringing in the funds needed to change lives. Thank you for taking this journey with me and joining the CYDF mission.
